S2BN Entertainment announced today the critically-acclaimed, Off-Broadway sensation FUERZA BRUTA NYC is ending its five-year run at the Daryl Roth Theatre on November 10, having played more than 1,500 performances for more than half a million of the most dynamic and enthusiastic audiences.
"It's been an amazing five-year run in New York and we look forward to the remaining months to celebrate this spectacular theatrical experience as New Yorkers and tourists alike get a final chance to jump into the exciting world at FUERZA BRUTA," said Stephen Shaw, executive producer for FUERZA BRUTA.
FUERZA BRUTA was created by Argentinean artistic director
Diqui James with the goal of forming a theatrical company in which creativity and experimentation are priorities. After premiering in Buenos Aires in 2005, the production ran in several major cities including Lisbon, London and Bogota before its NYC debut at the
Daryl Roth Theatre on October 24, 2007 – the same theatre where James' predecessor, De La Guarda, played a smashing six-year Off-Broadway run.
FUERZA BRUTA is a non-stop collision of visceral emotion and kinetic aerial imagery set to dynamic music created by musical director and composer
Gaby Kerpel. New York audiences have a final chance to witness mind-blowing visual effects and one-of-a-kind physical stunts that must be seen to be believed. From a man running full throttle through a series of moving walls to women frolicking in a watery world suspended just inches above the audience, FUERZA BRUTA floods the senses in a 360 degree heart-pounding theatrical experience.
FUERZA BRUTA has earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike, attracting some of Hollywood's brightest stars as audience members including
Steven Tyler, Beyonce Knowles,
Leonardo DiCaprio Shakira,
John Legend,
Orlando Bloom,
Ryan Gosling and many others. In May 2012, seven-time Grammy Award winning superstar Usher, hosted his album listening party with the FUERZA BRUTA cast to incredible review. Access Hollywood hails the show "The ridiculously fast-paced, acrobatic-filled play that's taken Union Square and all of New York City by storm," and Rolling Stone declares it a "…senses-stimulating live experience."
The New York Daily News calls FUERZA BRUTA "a sexy, heart-pounding fantasy," saying "Not many shows can boast that they deliver something you've never seen before. This one does." The New York Post proclaims it, "A dazzling blend of erotic, hypnotic, aquatic." In May 2012, the hosts of NBC's TODAY show experienced FUERZA BRUTA first-hand as a part of the "TODAY Takes On" series.
Since conception, the FUERZA BRUTA production has toured around the world. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival it earned critical praise and was honored with the prestigious Bank of Scotland Herald Angel Award for "the biggest and best show on the Fringe – the must see event of 2007" (The Herald). FUERZA BRUTA has also celebrated hugely successful tours in cities including Cordoba, Sao Paulo, Rosario, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Queretaro, Antwerp, Bilbao, Knokke Heist, Madrid, Berlin, Tel Aviv and many others. In February 2012 FUERZA BRUTA kicked off its Asian tour in Manila with plans to spend the entire year playing the major East Asian cities.
