Young Actors' Theatre Camp Program Directors Shawn Ryan and John Ainsworth announced today that several stars of stage and screen will lead master classes this summer at the Young Actors' Theatre Camp taking place June 24 - August 11, 2014 at Camp Sempervirens (20161 Big Basin Highway in Boulder Creek) in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Session dates are: June 24 - July 3; July 7 - 17; July 20 - 30 and August 1 - 11. This year's celebrity instructors include: Tony Award-nominee Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde on Broadway); Academy Award-nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes ("Whale Rider");Tony Award-nominee Jonathan Groff (HBO's "Looking," Fox's "Glee," and Spring Awakening); recent Academy Award winner (and new member of the elite EGOT club) Robert Lopez (composer of Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon and Disney's "Frozen"); Kristen Anderson Lopez (composer of Disney's "Frozen"); Jim O'Heir (NBC's "Parks and Recreation"); actress Lucy Punch ("Bad Teacher," upcoming film version of Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods") and Tony Award-nominee and Obie Award-winner Thomas Sadoski, (HBO's "The Newsroom," Becky Shaw on Broadway, Other Desert Cities Off-Broadway)! Other instructors during the summer camp include Geralyn Flood (Casting Director, "Big Time Rush"); Kevin Kent, (Actor, Teatro Zinzanni); Gina Latimerlo (Author, "Sing Anything: Mastering Vocal Styles"); Candace Milo (Voice Actor, voice of Dexter on "Dexter's Laboratory"). Additional instructors will be announced at a later date.
Courses at this year's Young Actors' Theatre Camp include vocal technique, acting, dancing, filmmaking, on-camera audition technique, comedy, improvisation and more. Outside of classes, campers will enjoy a variety of activities include swimming, movie nights, talent shows, arts and crafts, nature hikes...and, yes, S'mores!
Says Ryan and Ainsworth: "We created Young Actors' Theatre Camp 12 years ago as a way to give back to the community. The camp is about giving children and young adults the opportunity to express their individuality both on stage and off.
