In CommonWealth, Two young women in dire circumstances hatch a plan to propel themselves into a better life, but their decisions set in motion consequences they could never have foreseen. Set on the backdrop of the opioid epidemic, a story about trying to escape your environment when the system is stacked against you.
The cast includes authors Anastasia Rutkowsiki and Niki Hatzidis, who co-wrote Steel Birds, an award-nomintated adaptation of Chekhov's Three Sisters (NYIT nominated for Best Outstanding Full-Length). In addition, Anastasia has appeared as Irene Pavel in Steel Birds (Estrogenious Festival Main stage 2016) and also as Richard III: Duke of Clarence (Dir. Peter Watson). Niki Hatzidis has also appeared as Jeanne in Infinite Variety Production's In Their Footsteps at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and 59E59. The cast also includes Alison Preecea (Corie, Barefoot in the Park, Christine Manning/Clove Creek Dinner Theatre; Beth, A Stroke of Luck, Michael Klausner/Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts) Robbie Dema Jr. (The After Party (Executive at Sink)/Netflix 2018; The Perfect Murder (Peter) ID / Amazon 2017), Drew DeSimone (Edsel Ford in The Cars that Made America/History Channel; Richard Moon in John the Thief/Amazon) and Imogen Williams (Rock And Roll Refugee, Off-Broadway, Royal Family Productions; Legally Blonde Jr., WESS Players).
Michele O'Brien (Director) is a director, writer, and performer. Directing includes Park Plays (Queens Theatre), NY Madness (plays by Jessica Moss & Joshua Young), Love Drunk, and The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals. She's also an improviser and sketch comedy writer, but try not to hold it against her. B.A., Vassar College.
