According to published reports, the FOX network is considering postponing the premiere of the fifth season of their musical drama series Glee in light of the recent tragic death of cast member Cory Monteith. The 31-year-old was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on Saturday evening.
Executives from the network met yesterday to discuss how best to handle the actor's untimely passing. According to the source, the original September 19th premiere date may be pushed back as much as a month or more "to let everyone breathe."
Monteith's character, Finn Hudson, was written out of the storyline last spring to accomodate the actor's stay in a drug rehabilitation program. He was to have been a featured player in the upcoming season of the show.
On Sunday, the network released a statement on the loss of Monteith, commenting, "We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones"
