FOREVER DUSTY Will Close April 7 at New World Stages

Forever Dusty, the new musical about the life and times of legendary icon Dusty Springfield, will play its final New York performance at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) on Sunday, April 7, producers announced today.

The show, written by Kirsten Holly Smith and Jonathan Vankin and directed by Randal Myler, began performances on November 11, 2012 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street), and opened on Sunday, November 18, 2012. On April 7, it will have played 8 previews and 161 regular performances; it is currently the only new musical from the 2012 fall season still running, on or Off-Broadway, after two extensions due to popular demand. Forever Dusty has also made the 'sing-a-long' popular again among the New York theater scene.

Producers have plans to bring the show to other theaters in London, Los Angeles, and on a National Tour. Announcements to come in the next several weeks.

I talked to hundreds of audience members and their passion and love for the show and for Dusty Springfield truly inspired me every night. I can't wait to do Forever Dusty again in the next city," co-writer and star Kirsten Holly Smith said.

Co-writer Jonathan Vankin added, "We want to thank all of our fans who made it possible to have such an exciting experience in our five months at New World Stages. They are the reason we do this show! But none of it would have been possible without our beautiful, hugely talented cast and crew. Most of all, we give our thanks to the legendary Dusty Springfield. If more people know and love her now than before we started the show, then we have achieved what we set out to do."

Along with Smith as Dusty Springfield, Forever Dusty features Christina Sajous, Coleen Sexton, Benim Foster, Sean Patrick Hopkins, Ashley Betton, and Jonathan C. Kaplan.
The additional creative team includes Wilson Chin (Set Design), Richard DiBella (Lighting Design), Matt Kraus (Sound Design), Michael Thomas Murray (Musical Direction), Nancy Palmatier (Costume Design), Jenny Lynn Spencer (Choreography/Musical Staging), and Joy Dewing (Casting).

With her towering blonde beehive, spectacular outfits, and most of all, her unforgettable, soulful voice, Dusty Springfield became the first great female pop star of the 1960s. But how did a shy, awkward Catholic schoolgirl with the cumbersome name of Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, transform herself into an icon for a generation?

Forever Dusty tells the compelling and moving story of Dusty's journey, in a dramatic, high-energy musical filled with some of the most exciting pop songs ever written, including "Son of a Preacher Man," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "The Look of Love," and many others.
The Forever Dusty box office is located at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Tickets range in price from $59.00 - $79.00, with premium tickets available at $110. There is also a general rush policy in place, which takes place every day when the box office opens. Rush tickets are $26.50, cash only, and each person may purchase up to 2 tickets. Box office hours are as follows: Monday, Thursday and Friday (1:00 pm - final curtain), Tuesday (1:00 pm - 7:00 pm), and Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (10:00 am until final curtain).

Forever Dusty plays the following performance schedule: Mondays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 2:30pm & 7:00 p.m., Thursdays & Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
