Speranza Theatre Company is proud to present the FOODIES. Presented by Speranza Theatre Company, hosted by Square 1 Community Eatery, FOODIES is an evening of short plays and monologues tackling one of our favorite subjects - food! Regardless of your relationship with food, there is no denying its powerful ability to connect and divide us, to bring us joy and sometimes pain. Join us as we chew on the many ways food impacts our lives. Just a short walk from the Journal Square PATH and Transportation Center.

Diana Basmajian, FOODIES Director and Lead Writer
Ms. Basmajian directed and/or developed shows with Tony Award winners Shuler Hensley, Lea Salonga, Sheldon Harnick, Jonathan Tunick, and Austin Pendleton; Tony-nominee Kate Baldwin, and Emmy-winners Paul Miller and Eileen Fulton, among others. She is currently the Executive Producer and Artistic Director for Playbill Theater Network and led Stage17’s groundbreaking TV productions as VP of Programming and Supervising Producer. Ms. Basmajian produced and directed the capture of Arena Stage’s The Originalist airing on the PBS station WNET. A graduate of Northwestern University with an MFA in directing from The New School for Drama.
Jennie Contuzzi, FOODIES Writer and Associate Artistic Director of Speranza
Ms. Contuzzi is a graduate of The New School for Drama's MFA playwriting division and a member of the New Perspectives Theatre Company's Women's Work Playwriting Lab. She has enjoyed productions of her original plays in both New York City and regionally-most recently History Alive!, Unveiling Liberty, Millicent the Magnificent, and Women Rising: Stories of Hope with Speranza.
Heather Wahl, FOODIES Executive Producer and Artistic Director of Speranza
Ms. Wahl is the Founding Artistic Director of Speranza and holds an MFA in Acting, New School for Drama. Producer: History Alive; Women Rising; Vagina Monologues; Janey Miller’s World Tour; A Piece of My Heart; Millicent The Magnificent.
