Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who just culminated her off-Broadway run of Fleabag, has been brought in to liven up the script for Bond 25, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bond star Daniel Craig met with Waller-Bridge in New York, where she had been performing, to discuss how to improve the script, which he thought was in need of some "polishing," by adding some of Waller-Bridge's unique style and humor.
After director Cary Fukanaga replaced Danny Boyle on Bond 25 last year, regular Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were hired to rework the screenplay written by John Hodge. Scott Z. Burns was also added to the writing team in February.
These changes have meant that the release of the film has been pushed back several times and is currently set for release in April 2020.
After its sold-out run in London, Phoebe Waller-Bridge's award-winning comedic play, came to New York for 6 weeks only. The play that inspired the hit television series, Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life. Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.
