According to the New York Times, FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation which was previously slated to open on Broadway in August 2013, has been postponed while its producers "continue to work on the show." The musical, which is currently on a national tour that launched January in Pittsburgh, was previously scheduled to open on Broadway in Fall 2012.
Producer Thomas Viertel told NYT: "Broadway is and has always been a tough place for new shows to success, and we want to get this right. We have an incredible title and several established songs from the movie, but there may be a few too many subplots, and moments that haven't been weighted correctly." He also revealed that they hope to bring the show to Broadway later in the 2013-14 theatre season.
