FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Flashing FORWARD to BURLESQUE!

This week, we are taking a listen to the brand-new release of the first single from the forthcoming soundtrack to the motion picture musical BURLESQUE starring Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci and Cher. This very catchy and mildly caustic confection is Aguilera's first song in the film and expertly establishes the everything-old-is-new-again nature of the production, with brassy blasts sounding off over a herky-jerky hip-hop-style beat. The anachronisms in the lyrics and musical pastiche styles work very well, indeed. Aguilera's vocals are as excellent as expected and this proves to be a very positive precursory glimpse into the wild, sexy, willpower-building world of BURLESQUE. So, please, do as the song says and "get your ass up and show me how you burlesque!"

If for no other reason than the involvement of Christina Aguilera and Cher in their first movie musical together (along with brassy Broadway baby Kristen Bell to boot) this is a project with plenty of hot potential.
