EW has an exclusive first listen to the highly anticipated audiobook Hamilton: THE REVOLUTION, which hit bookshelves yesterday, April 12th. Check it out at left!
In the audio clips, Hamilton star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda reads 'Act One' while actress Mariska Hargitay reads the prose. Miranda specifically recruited the Law & Order: SVU star for the project after learning of her passion for the musical.
Last month, Hargitay told EW, "I'm hard-pressed to express how thrilled and honored I am to do this. Lin-Manuel's Hamilton enthralls me, and to think that I get to play a part in telling the story of how this masterpiece came into existence, it's really just a lot to take in."
HAMILTON: THE REVOLUTION gives readers an unprecedented view of both revolutions, from the only two writers able to provide it. Miranda, along with Jeremy McCarter, a cultural critic and theater artist who was involved in the project from its earliest stages--"since before this was even a show," according to Miranda--traces its development from an improbable performance at the White House to its landmark opening night on Broadway six years later. In addition, Miranda has written more than 200 funny, revealing footnotes for his award-winning libretto, the full text of which is published here.
