The song is featured in the stage musical SMILE which was originally produced on Broadway in 1986. Tony Award winner Marvin Hamlisch composed the music with lyrics by Howard Ashman. The musical is based loosely on the 1975 comedy film of the same title, from a screenplay by Jerry Belson.
