FINI DANCE FESTIVAL Welcomes A New Department Dedicated To Musical Theatre

Fini Italian International Dance Festival is an event created by Antonio Pio Fini with the intent of providing a platform for Italian and American dancers to collaborate, share and present their talents in a professional atmosphere, while celebrating each country's respective cultures. The NY section of the festival hosts a summer intensive for students to learn from top professionals in the industry. The festival is capped off with a one-night celebration of eclectic dance performances flawlessly intertwined with awards ceremonies for outstanding contributors to the Arts community.

For the first time in the festival's history, the intensive welcomed a Musical Theatre section thanks to Silvia Nicoloso in 2016.

Nicoloso was born in Sicily and performed in numerous productions in Italy until 2013. In the U.S. She was recently seen in the role of Mitzi in Crazy for You at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre, danced for the Philadelphia's section of Hairspray Live!. Other credits include: In The Heights, Monster Stomp at Bush Gardens Williamsburg, and Jacob's Pillow.

Nicoloso says: " It's important for a dancer to be versatile and try new styles, to specialize, of course, but to be able to experiment and be open to a quality of movement that is not as familiar, and these students did such a great job integrating technique with storytelling".

Thanks to this successful addition, Nicoloso will present a musical theatre number at the next Fini Dance Festival. In addition, a musical theatre portion will be included in Fini Dance Festival Italy by popular demand!

The Fini Italian International Dance Festival is now organizing its first italian winter intensive in Fano, Italy December 27/30, offering scholarships for the New York section!
