This Is Not A Theatre Company's Ferry Play invites audiences to participate in the site-specific, sensory experience of a smartphone play for the Staten Island Ferry.
As the ferry sets sail, audience members put their earbuds in place and listen to the recorded production in which every surrounding sight, smell and sound plays a supporting role in the experience. Ghosts from the ferry's past mingle with voices from its present, leaving spectators to consider their role in the live performance event that is the Big Apple. Ferry Play is featured in the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival! "It is an experience that encourages the listener to see a familiar part of the world in a whole new way," says Michael Niederman of New York Theatre Review.
