FEARnyc, New York City's premier horror film festival, will feature a special tribute to recently departed horror icon George A. Romero. Romero, who passed away on July 16, 2017, will receive the festival's annual Legacy Honor. The festival will also host a special screening of Night of the Living Dead introduced by historian Tyler Hixson.

"Mr. Romero was a supporter of FEARnyc since its inception and we are saddened to hear of his passing," said John Capo, founder and director of FEARnyc. "We will do our best to honor a man who had a profound effect on the world of horror and we extend our condolences to his wife, Suz, and his entire family."

FEARnyc, founded in 2016 and sponsored by Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central, annually screens dozens of horror film premieres along with filmmaker Q&As, special events, and an award ceremony. This year's festival will be held October 27-29, 2017 at The Sonnet Theater in Times Square.
