Experience 19th-Century NYC at Historic Players Club's Holiday Parties

The Players is hosting a pair of members-only December events that will allow attendees to experience one of New York City's oldest and most storied private social clubs at its holiday finest, in a historic Gramercy Park mansion that brings 19th-century New York City to life.

It's a great opportunity to discover the club's unique history while learning more about its recent renaissance, including launching the Young Players Society for members under 40 and tapping Waldorf Astoria veteran Jonathan Masel as General Manager to expand its culinary and cocktail offerings.

The events are as follows:

· #PlayersAfter, Friday, December 9, 9:00pm - 1:00am: This weekly soiree for young members takes place in the club's legendary Library and its Card Room, which boasts a poker table once owned by Mark Twain. You can start off the night with dinner at Edwin's, the club's weekly pop-up restaurant named after the club's founder, Edwin Booth.

· The Players Holiday Party, Saturday, December 10, 6:00pm - 9:00pm: Join us for an lively lineup of merrymaking, including:

o 6:00pm: Cocktails featuring a Christmas carol sing-along.

o 7:30pm: A sit-down holiday dinner showcasing the

o 9:00pm: The Annual Holiday Cabaret, hosted by Players members Max St. James and Steve Ross, an acclaimed cabaret veteran.

o 9:00pm: Christmas karaoke, hosted by Players chairman Arthur Makar and treasurer Phil Berg.

Founded in 1888 by actor Edwin Booth with 15 other incorporators including Mark Twain, The Players is New York City's only social club for theatre, television, film, music, and publishing professionals, patrons of the arts, and business and civic leaders. Housed in the Booth mansion, a landmark Greek Revival townhouse on Gramercy Park, The Playerscelebrates the rich cultural life of New York City with exclusive membership events that include live performances, readings by leading authors and playwrights, film screenings, and special dining and cocktail experiences in its famous Grill Room. Presidents of The Players have included Jose Ferrer, Lynn Redgrave, and Timothy Hutton.
