BroadwayWorld has just learned that Paper Mill Playhouse's recent production of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, based on the novel by Victor Hugo and the Disney animated film, will get a cast recording. This news comes less than two weeks after it was announced that the show will not be transferring to Broadway. Read about it here!
Shayne Austin Miller, Director of Press and Public Relations for Paper Mill, commented to BWW exclusively, "We are extremely proud of this production, but it never had any plans following the Paper Mill Playhouse run."
The show, which also starred Michael Arden in the title role and Pippin's Ciara Renée as "Esmeralda", opened at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse on March 4th and closed on April 5th.
In response to the news, fans of the musical took to the internet to begin an online petition, which as of this morning, has 759 signatures. Would you like to see the production head to Broadway? Check out the petition at Change.org.
Inspired by the classic Victor Hugo novel, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME features music by Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Little Shop of Horrors), and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell,Pippin). The production is an intimate retelling of the famous love story, with a lush, emotionally rich score and a production that will leave you inspired.
