Nominations for London's Evening Standard Theatre Awards have been announced.
Two shows directed by Michael Grandage--the revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical Evita and the world premiere of Peter Morgan's Frost/Nixon--each received four nominations, while Tom Stoppard's acclaimed Rock 'N' Roll and Anthony Page's transfer production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? tied as the third most honored production, with three nods each.
Bill Irwin, Kevin Spacey, Frances O'Connor and Kathleen Turner were among the acting nominees, while Evita star Elena Roger was nominated as Outstanding Newcomer.
The ceremony will take place on November 27th at the Savoy Hotel. The winner of the annual Special Award (usually bestowed as a Lifetime Achievement award), as well as the recipient of the Most Promising Playwright Award, will be announced at the ceremony.
