Ettinger Receives Ruth Morley Award, June 14

The League of Professional Theatre Women will host their annual Spring Luncheon where they will honor Tony nominated set designer Heidi Ettinger with the 2005 Ruth Morley Designing Woman Award.  The event will take place on Tuesday, June 14th from noon-2 PM at Trattoria Dopo Teatro (125 West 44th Street).

The award is named for costume designer Ruth Morley, who served on the Board of Directors of the League, and was best known for her designs for Annie Hall, Tootsie and The Prince of Tides, as well as over three dozen Broadway shows including the original productions of The Miracle Worker, A Thousand Clowns and Deathtrap.

Ettinger is an award-winning set designer on Broadway.  This season, she designed the sets for Good Vibrations and Dracula, the Musical, as well as Big River (Tony, Drama Desk & Outer Critic Awards), Into the Woods, Moon Over Buffalo and The Secret Garden (Tony, Drama Desk & OCC Awards) in past years. Other Broadway credits include: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Tony nom.), The Sound of Music, Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Triumph of Love, The Red Shoes and 'night, Mother (also as costume designer). She has also designed the sets for The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Berlin and Dinner with Demons at Second Stage.

The League of Professional Theatre Women is a not-for-profit advocacy organization promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre. Now entering its 23rd year, the League provides a number of programs and services for its members as well as the theatre community. The League links professional theatre women nationally and internationally, providing an ongoing forum for ideas and issues of concern to the theatrical community and its audiences. The League is also a member of the New York Women's Agenda and the New York Coalition of Professional Women in the Arts and Media.
