Ethan Coen's One-Act Plays to Make UK Debut?

Ethan Coen, whose play Women or Nothing is currently playing at the Atlantic Theatre Company, just revealed that his plays might be heading to the UK in the near future. Coen told the BBC: "There's nothing definite, but hopefully the first bunch of one-act plays I did with Neil Pepe [artistic director] at the Atlantic Theater Company might be coming here."

On his interest in playwrighting he added: "I don't know why. You know, it's kind of like doing movies. You see a movie and you go, 'OK, I can try one of those. Maybe I could do that.' It's the same impulse: that would be fun. It's recreational. It's part-time. I'm a play hobbyist. I'm a gentleman playwright."

Coen's three previous plays are Happy Hour, Almost an Evening and Offices, all of them evenings of one-acts produced by the Atlantic Theater Company and directed by Neil Pepe. Ethan Coen has written a collection of stories, Gates of Eden, and a collection of poems, The Drunken Driver Has the Right of Way. With his brother, Joel, he has made fifteen movies including Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing,Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Man Who Wasn't There, Burn after Reading, A Serious Man, and adaptations of Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men and Charles Portis's True Grit.
