Eric Walton's Solo Show Esoterica Opens Off-Bway, 9/19

Esoterica, written and performed by Eric Walton, will have its off Broadway premiere at the DR2 Theatre (103 East 15th Street – just East of Union Square), opening Tuesday, September 19th, with previews beginning Saturday, September 9th. The show is presented by David Sonkin, Leia Thompson, Michael Morris and Daryl Roth. 

Esoterica "features actor, sleight-of-hand artist and raconteur Eric Walton, who satirically investigates matters philosophical, metaphysical and arcane. With little more than a regulation deck of 52 playing cards, a handful of Tootsie Rolls and a Mr. Potato-Head, Walton leads his audience on an exploration of the human psyche," state notes on the show, which is not recommended for audiences under 14 years of age.

Walton has been a denizen of the New York performance scene since the mid-nineties, during which time he has worked in a wide range of media and disciplines in cities across the United States. He was recently honored by American Entertainment Magazine for excellence in his craft. He may be seen in the upcoming feature films Across the Universe, directed by Julie Taymor, and East of Jesus directed by Rod Bingaman.

Esoterica is directed by Elysa Marden. The set is designed by Troy Hourie, with costumes by Jessica Jahn, lighting by Ben Stanton, and sound by Lisa Heffter.

The playing schedule for the show is as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 7PM and 10PM and Sundays at 7PM.  Tickets are $35 for all previews. Beginning September 19th, tickets are $50 and $35 on Sundays. For tickets call Telecharge.com at (212) 239-6200.
