Blue Note Jazz Club, the iconic Greenwich Village jazz and blues venue that offers live musical performances every night of the week, announces new show additions through February 2014.

HIGHLIGHT FEATURES- each performer is scheduled for two shows per night, 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm, unless otherwise noted.

  • On November 12th, Eric Harland will perform a birthday celebration show with Chris Potter on saxophone, Taylor Eigsti on piano, Nir Felder on guitar and Matt Penman on bass. A Grammy-nominated drummer, Eric Harland is known as the most "in-demand" drummer of his generation. In addition to his current list of performing groups, which include "James Farm" with Joshua Redman and "Voyager," Eric's own widely recognized group, he also manages to fit in collaborations with world renowned artists including John Mayer, Spike Lee, Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson and more. Tickets are $15 at the bar, $25 for table reservations.
  • Janis Siegel, of The Manhattan Transfer, takes the stage at Blue Note on November 13 to prepare the crowd for the next few nights, which feature performances from The Manhattan Transfer. Siegel, a nine-time GRAMMY winner and seventeen-time GRAMMY nominee has been an undeniable asset in The Manhattan Transfer's diverse musical catalog. Alongside her career as a member of The Manhattan Transfer, she has also maintained a solo career that has produced more than a half dozen fine-crafted solo albums, including GRAMMY nominated "At Home," along with numerous collaborative projects such as "Short Stories," a GRAMMY nominated duet with pianist Fred Hersch. This special CD release party showcases Siegel with GRAMMY nominated pianist John di Martino, veteran drummer Ben Wittman, GRAMMY nominated guitarist Paul Meyers and critically acclaimed up and coming trumpeter Dominick Farinacci. Tickets are $20 at the bar, $35 for table reservations.
  • The Manhattan Transfer returns to Blue Note once again from November 14-17th. It's been just about 40 years since Tim Hauser, a former Madison Avenue marketing executive, paid his bills by driving a New York City cab while aspiring to form a harmony vocal quartet sui generis that could authentically embrace varied musical styles, and still create something wholly unique in the field of American popular song. In the fall of 1972, Hauser met Laurel Masse, Janis Siegel, and Alan Paul in fairly quick succession, and the rest, as they say, is history. With numerous Grammy Awards and nominations, the group is currently working on a special project called The Vaults to commemorate its 40 years of incredible vocal jazz. Tickets are $40 at the bar, $65 for table reservations.
  • It's time to celebrate, Sheila Jordan's 85th Birthday Celebration with Steve Kuhn at Blue Note on November 18. Jordan, who is one of the premier singers in jazz, is known for bath her scatting prowess and her emotive treatment of jazz ballads. Shortly after making her recording debut with George Russel, Jordan released her solo debut, Portrait of Sheila Jordan (1963), on Blue Note Records, making her first female vocalist to record for the label. In addition to her work as a performer, Jordan is also a renowned educator, having served as a faculty member at the City College of New York and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Just this year she was honored by the National Endowment for the Arts as a Jazz Master, recognition of her inimitable contributions to the art form. Steve Kuhn, is also known as one of the most lyrical and affecting pianist in jazz, with an unfailingly beautiful touch and a sophisticated sense of swing. Having worked with John Coltrane early in his career, he boasts an impressive resume that also includes extensive collaborations. Old friends and longtime collaborators, these two artists will perform an intimate evening of duo in celebration of Jordan's 85th Birthday. Tickets are $15 at the bar, $25 for table reservations.
  • Extraordinarily gifted jazz vocalist Jane Monheit comes to Blue Note from November 19th through November 24th. Monheit's sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs have made her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds. Many of her albums have topped Billboard charts, and her most recent album, Home, is a collection of standards that represents a passionate return to her roots as a jazz musician. Lauded for its maturity, Home is arguably the loveliest and lightest of Monheit's 10-CD discography and solidifies her reputation as one of the greatest jazz chanteuses of our time. Tickets are $20 at the bar, $35 for table reservations.
  • Five-time Grammy nominated pianist and composer, Fred Hersch, will perform with guitar prodigy and Grammy nominee Julian Lage, on November 25th, 26th, and 27th. When the duo met in 2011 and played together for the first time, the response was overwhelming, and the artists went on to record their debut CD, "Free Flying," together. This sophisticated album, just recently released, has already been widely praised for its smart improvisations which fuse baroque counterpoint, punctuated rhythms, and diverse jazz motifs. Fred Hersch has been called a "master who plays it his way," by The New York Times. Tickets are $20 at the bar, $30 for table reservations.
  • Latin jazz sensation Gato Barbieri takes over the Blue Note for one night only on November 28th, performing a Birthday Celebration show this Thanksgiving, which is Gato's own birthday. Tickets are $30 at the bar, $45 for table reservations.
  • Freddy Cole, the younger brother of Nat King Cole and uncle of Natalie Cole, joins Blue Note for a special Holiday Celebration November 29 - December 1, 2013. With a sound much like Nat's and an original personality of his own, Freddy Cole's vocals tend to be a bit darker and slightly rougher than his brother's. When a hand injury ended his football career and led him to pursue music, Freddy debuted on vinyl in 1952 with his single, "The Joke's on Me." By 2000, Freddy had signed with Telarc and released his first disc for the label, Merry-Go-Round, followed by Rio de Janeiro Blue in 2001. His recording career has spanned over 50 years, and his Blue Note appearance will showcase beloved holiday favorites that boast widespread appeal. Tickets are $35 for table reservations and $20 at the bar.
  • The Blue Note proudly welcomes back Chris Botti for his 9th holiday residency, beginning on December 16th and running through January 5th. Since the 2004 release of his critically acclaimed album When I Fall in Love, Chris Botti has become America's largest-selling jazz instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music, achieving several Grammy nominations, multiple gold and platinum certifications, and three No. 1 albums on Billboard's Jazz Albums listings. After spending the early part of his career in settings reaching from the Buddy Rich Big Band and Frank Sinatra to Natalie Cole, Joni Mitchell, and Paul Simon, Botti has now thoroughly established himself as one of the important, innovative figures of the contemporary music world. Tickets are $40 at the bar, $75 for table reservations.

For two decades, the contemporary jazz quartet known as Fourplay has enjoyed consistent artistic and commercial success by grafting elements of R&B, pop and a variety of other sounds to their unwavering jazz foundations. In the course of a dozen recordings - six of which have climbed to the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Album charts - the supergroup has continued to explore the limitless dimensions and permutations of jazz while at the same time appealing to a broad mainstream audience.
