Emlin Board Co-President Seth Adam Kaplan Passes Away, Theater Releases Statement

Emlin Theater mourns the loss of Emelin Board Co-President, Seth Kaplan and issues statement:

"On behalf of the Emelin Theatre Board of Trustees and staff, we are deeply saddened to announce the death of Emelin Board Co-President, Seth Kaplan, who passed away suddenly on August 1, 2009. Seth was relentlessly committed to the mission and community of the Emelin Theatre, and his passion for the arts - and life in general - was evident in everything he did. Vibrant and intelligent, Seth was an inspiring leader, whose careful advice helped guide the Emelin into a rebirth. He was quick to laugh, a thoughtful optimist who, in his good nature, didn't just hope for the best, but actually made it happen. Seth's devotion to the Emelin was a great gift to the Theatre and the community at large. To hear Seth talk about the music he loved, or the future of the Emelin, or his relationships with his family, the Emelin Board, or the Emelin staff, was to witness a generosity of spirit and a sincerely felt respect and kindness that are all too rare.

At this time, our thoughts are with Seth's family and loved ones, especially his wife Barbara and children Julia and Ben, as all of us grieve this tragic loss. Seth was our friend, our colleague, and our leader, and we will all miss him more than words can express."
