On October 16, Westchester's The Emelin Theatre will hold its 2008 Gala, A Sound Experience, to honor artists and local supporters of the arts. The program's honored guests will include Grammy nominee and folk music icon Judy Collins, award-winning stage and screen actor, producer and director Stanley Tucci, and the Executive Director of the Westchester Arts Council Janet Langsam. The Gala will be hosted by Emily Grant, Honorary Gala Chairperson, and the Emelin Theatre Board of Directors at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, New York at 6:30 p.m. Individual tickets for the Gala are $250.
The program, which begins with cocktails and a silent auction and then dinner and a live auction, will feature a performance by honoree
Judy Collins. Collins' career spans nearly four decades, with more than 30 albums and several chart-topping hits ("Both Sides Now," "Amazing Grace," and "Send in the Clowns").
Stanley Tucci, well-known to film audiences for his roles in in Road to Perdition, The Devil Wears Prada, Big Night and The Terminal, is a graduate of the
Drama Department at SUNY-Purchase and is a Westchester resident. He will be recognized during the program for his many contributions to theatre and film. Community honoree Janet Langsam, who has devoted her career to strengthening the community's perception of and involvement in the arts believes, "Art is not only nourishment for the soul, it makes people want to live and do business in our country."
