As previously announced, Elizabeth Marvel will return to the cast of its critically acclaimed production of OTHER DESERT CITIES, a new play by Jon Robin Baitz, directed by Joe Mantello, beginning tonight at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45 Street). Ms. Marvel, who created the role of Brooke Wyeth when OTHER DESERT CITIES premiered at LCT’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater last winter, will join Stockard Channing, Stacy Keach, Judith Light and Justin Kirk in the production, replacing Rachel Griffiths who played her final performance in the play on Sunday, March 4.
In OTHER DESERT CITIES, Brooke Wyeth, a once promising novelist, returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents, former members of the Reagan inner-circle, her brother and her aunt. When Brooke announces that she is about to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil and the Wyeths are both bound together and torn apart as they struggle to come to terms with their past.
Elizabeth Marvel has also appeared in the LCT productions of Edward Albee’s Seascape and Wendy Wasserstein’s An American Daughter. A multiple Obie Award-winner for her performances in Hedda Gabler, A Streetcar Named Desire, Therese Raquin and Misalliance, her other stage credits both on Broadway and off include Top Girls, Taking Sides, The Seagull, The Little Foxes, Troilus and Cressida, King Lear and Fifty Words. Her film and TV credits include True Grit, Synecdoche, Burn After Reading, Lights Out, The Good Wife and Nurse Jackie.
