Deadline reports that Elisabeth Moss, who recently received a Tony nomination for her starring role in Broadway's THE HEIDI CHORNICLES, has signed on to the cast of THE BLEEDER. The actress joins previously announced cast member Liev Schreiber and his wife, Naomi Watts.
Moss will take on the role of boxer Chuck Wepner's second wife Phyllis in the film which follows "the true-life tale of the journeyman underdog boxer who improbably pushed world champ Muhammad Ali to the limit in their 1975 title fight." Schreiber will play Wepnerin while Watts will portray Wepner's third wife Linda, who steered him through subsequent troubles after the Ali fight - that sudden fame launched a hard-partying lifestyle that led him to serve time for cocaine possession - and ultimately to sobriety and redemption."
Moss made her Broadway debut in 2008 as Karen in the 20th anniversary production of David Mamet's movie-centric SPEED-THE-PLOW. She is perhaps best known for her role in AMC's MAD MEN.
Aside from Broadway, Moss also co-starred in the West End production of Lillian Hellman's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR as Martha Dobie, at the Comedy Theatre in 2011. Just recently, Moss received her first Tony nomination for her starring role in THE HEIDI CHRONICLES alongside Jason Biggs and Bryce Pinkham.
