Eleanor Parker, who played 'Baroness Elsa Schrader' in the 1966 film The Sound of Music starring Julie Andrews, passed away today, December 9, 2013. She was 91.

Parker was nominated for three Academy Awards. First, in 1951 for Caged, then again in 1952 for Detective Story, and finally in 1956 for Interrupted Melody. Parker began her acting career by studying at the Pasadena Playhouse right out of high school. She made her big screen debut in Busses Roar in 1942.
Some of her other film credits include Mission to Moscow, Between Two Worlds, Pride of the Marines, Of Human Bondage, Never Say Goodbye, Escape Me Never, The Woman in White, Chain Lightning, Scaramouche, Escape From Fort Bravo, the Naked Jungle, Valley of the Kings, and The Man with the Golden Arm.
She acted opposite stars such as Humphrey Bogart, John Garfield, Errol Flynn, William Holden, Charlton Heston, Robert Taylor, Frank Sinatra and, of course, Christopher Plummer, who played 'Captain Georg von Trapp' opposite her 'Baroness; in The Sound of Music.
Parker also appeared on television, including the series Bracken's World, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Hawaii Five-O, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and Murder, She Wrote. She was nominated for an Emmy for her role in The Eleventh Hour in 1963. Her final project was 1991's TV movie Dead on the Money.
