Eight More Places Available for 2nd Annual Artist's Crossing

Eight more places are now up for grabs for young musical theatre performers who want to participate in the 2005 Artist's Crossing theatre company and school for the performing artsDue to the success of the company's June 13th benefit, and thanks to the help of Adam Guettel, Ricky Ian Gordon, Brent Barrett, Mary Testa and many more, the Artist's Crossing has announced that eight additional places are now available for their 2nd Annual Summer intensive, which is held from July 15th to July 24th in Dayton, OH.

"The Artist's Crossing, Inc. is an innovative new theatre company and school
for the performing arts. Founded by Artistic Director Judith Blazer, Educational Director Joseph Bates and Executive Director Landon Scott Heimbach, The Artist's Crossing is dedicated to promoting, cultivating and fostering young talent by bringing together a diverse group of seasoned artists serving as Master teachers to mentor and guide them through workshops exploring the application of various art forms to creation of new works and productions of existing repertoire. The program will culminate in a final public performance in which teachers and students will work together as colleagues, learning from each other," states a press article.

Judith Blazer (Titanic, Hello Again) will lead a team of Master Teachers and Directors that will guide company members through various acting workshops, master classes, private vocal coachings, the Viewpoints, Fitzmaurice Voicework, personal consultations, panel discussions about our art and industry, and rehearsals culminating in a final public performance.

In 2005, Gary Briggle (Sacramento Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland), Diane Ciesla (Lost in Yonkers national tour, the Goodman Theatre), Bruce W. Coyle (The Madwoman of Central Park West, Sunset Boulevard in Germany), Lee Merrill (Houston Grand Opera, Paper Mill Playhouse), Kathryn Morath (Broadway's The Pirates of Penzance and Nick and Nora) and KJ Sanchez (television's "ER," SITI Company) will lead the young artists in the Artist's Crossing company.

All participants should be between the ages of 18-29 and have completed at least one year of college as an acting/musical theatre/music or dance major as of June 2004; however certain exceptions will be made. Applicants must submit a non-returnable videotaped audition. The audition packet must include two contrasting monologues (for non-singers), one monologue and two contrasting vocal selections (for singers), headshot (or snapshot), resume, and a completed application. Tapes must be mailed to the following address by June 30th, 2005 :

Total cost is for the program is $600, which includes one meal a day with 'The 2005 Company', participation in all classes and final performance presentation, and transportation to and from the airport (Airfare is not included). Limited housing will be available at an additional cost of $100. The tuition fee must be received by July 10th, 2005. All checks must be made payable to The Artist's Crossing, Inc.
