The Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced additional casting. The festival, in which Emmy Rossum, Sharon Lawrence, Malcolm Gets, Kerry Butler, Kathleen Turner, Kristine Nielsen and more will be involved, will run from July 6th through August 27th. Among the latest stars to sign on are Margaret Colin, Carrie Preston, Gregg Edelman and Kaitlin Hopkins; the latter two have joined the cast of The Opposite of Sex.
Colin will play the role of Princess Kosmonopolis and Gerry Bamman will play the role of Boss Finley in the Festival's production of Sweet Bird of Youth, directed by David Jones, which plays July 19-30. Colin, last seen Off-Broadway in Defiance, has appeared in the films Independence Day and Something Wild, and on TV on "Chicago Hope" and "Law & Order." She appeared in last season's Williamstown production of On the Razzle. Bamman appeared in the Broadway production of Uncle Vanya. His extensive TV credits include "Law & Order."
Enid Graham will play the role of Lady Capulet in the Festival's production of
Romeo and Juliet, directed by Will Frears, which plays Aug. 2-13. Graham received a Tony nomination for her work in
Honour and has also appeared on Broadway in The
Constant Wife, Dinner at Eight and
Fortune's Fool.Preston will play the role of Phillipa and Matt Letscher will play the role of Duncan in the Festival's production of
Double Double, which plays Aug. 16-27. The show was written by the Festival's Artistic Director
Roger Rees and
Rick Elice, writer of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical
Jersey Boys, and is directed by Rees. Preston has appeared on Broadway in
Festen and
The Tempest, and in the film
The Stepford Wives. Letscher played a lead role in TV's "Good Morning, Miami" and had recurring roles on "Joey" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Preston and Letscher worked together in the film
Straight Jacket and on Broadway in
The Rivals.
Edelman will play the role of Bill and Hopkins will play the role of Lucia in the Festival's production of
The Opposite of Sex, directed by
Robert Jess Roth, which plays Aug. 9-20. Edelman has been nominated for a Tony Award on four occasions. Among his many Broadway credits are
Wonderful Town, Into the Woods, 1776, Anna Karenina and
City of Angels. Hopkins appeared off-Broadway in
The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Bare, and
Bat Boy; she received a Drama Desk award nomination for the latter show.
The Festival also recently announced that tickets for its 2006 season will be available at the box office and by phone at 413.597.3400 beginning Friday, June 16 at 10 am. In addition, tickets are available on the Festival's website,
