Eccentric Theater Company Celebrates Women's Suffrage With New One-Acts Image

As voting rights are being gutted and a women's right to choose is on its most unsteady footing in a generation, Eccentric Theater Company in partnership with EAG presents this workshop of two shockingly relevant Women's Suffrage Era one-act satires.

In the Pro-Suffrage How the Vote Was Won, working class Horace's world is turned upside-down when a household of lady-relatives arrive, demanding to be "supported." Only when he is confronted with the idea of a future without women in the workforce does this anti-suffrage stalwart realizes the error of his ways. The Spirit of Seventy-Six was written as anti-suffrage propaganda in the years after the Civil War, as the women's suffrage movement was gaining speed. It tells the "horrifying" prophecy of a future of female dominance, played for delicious irony.

?These plays are two hilarious examples of how theater can be used as effective tools to fight against encroaching civil rights violations.

Cast includes Veronica Shea, Clint Zugel, Hannah Karpenko, Juan Cardenas, Courtney McClellan, and Alysa Rambo. Directed by Chelsea Anderson-Long. Don't miss them on January 17th at 7pm, Guild Hall, 1 E. 29th St. 2nd floor, NY, NY.

Tickets available for purchase at the door (cash, check, credit card). Reservations are highly recommended. Box office/house will open at approximately 6:40pm. Seating is general admission. A wine and cheese reception will follow the show.

All proceeds will be split between ETC and the charitable programs of EAG.

**Deeds Not Words will also be playing at The Tank (312 W 36th St, NY, NY) on February 8, 9, 15, and 16. Visit www.eccentrictheatercompany.com for details.**

Eccentric Theater Company (ETC.) is a collection of artists dedicated to pushing the boundaries of a standard theater company. They believe that the lines between different facets of art are currently too rigid, and they aspire to create a space where an audience member can experience a play, a jazz club, an art gallery, and sometimes all three at the same time! www.eccentrictheatercompany.com.
