East of Doheny-an independent Production Company in film, theatre, and television-is sponsoring the Broadway Kids Care, an event featuring Broadway's child actors in an effort to encourage children and the world of entertainment to participate in community outreach and aid, and will headline the event to be held on Saturday, March 31st at Spanky's BBQ in New York City from 5:00PM-7:00PM.

Participating will be child actors from past and present Broadway productions, including East of Doheny's own Grey Gardens; Tarzan; Beauty and the Beast; Les Miserables; Mary Poppins; The Color Purple; and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Kelly Gonda, East of Doheny's president, said "Broadway's kids are in a unique position to spark their peers into community action.  Some of these actors have portrayed the unfortunate realities of underprivileged children, everything from homelessness to living in abusive households.  They have provided a face for those in need, making them the perfect advocates for children less fortunate."  East of Doheny intends on hosting other Broadway Kids Care events throughout the year in support of other shelters, senior citizen facilities and medical centers.

During the event, Broadway's child actors will work together to assemble Easter baskets for The Children of Freedom House, a shelter for disabled women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  The Easter baskets, filled with treats like chocolates, toys, and stuffed bears, will be presented to the children of Freedom House in time for Easter.  East of Doheny, which is underwriting the Broadway Kids Care event, is supporting Freedom House due to the distinctive resources it provides; specifically because it is the only shelter in the United States that is completely handicapped-accessible, it has an in-house day care, psychiatrist, occupational therapy specialist and a nurse on staff.
