Each year the Lancaster Summer Arts Festival hosts numerous events around the city. The "Expanded Visions" photography exhibition has been in existence since the early 1980s and was originally called "Silver Visions." It was renamed "Expanded Visions" in 2010 to acknowledge the emergence of digital photography. The exhibition, now in its third decade, will open at the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA, on Friday, June 6, from 6 to 8 PM. It continues through June 29, showing Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM and during performances at the Ware Center. Admission is FREE and complimentary coffee is served June 6.
Some of the photographers participating are: Fred Albright, Ashley Noel, Taylor Brown, Barbé Benoît, Hannah Watson, Linda Stetina, Tyler Martin, and Gopi Mehrotra, to mention only a few.
A different juror selects the photography awards each year. In 2012, the awards were chosen by John Holgren, professor of art at Franklin and Marshal College. Last year, the awards were chosen by commercial photographer Brian Donnelly, of Brian Donnelly Studio in Lancaster. This year, the awards juror is photojournalist Richard Hertzler of Lancaster Intelligencer Journal. The goal is to have a different point of view each year.
The exhibition is coordinated by Shauna Frischkorn, professor of art and design at Millersville University.
All First Friday events at The Ware Center are sponsored by: Rodgers & Associates, Ann B. Barshinger, Aussie & the Fox, Fine Living Lancaster Magazine, Hagelgans & Veronis, Dr. Mary Kearns & Dr. Jon Walker, Peggy Neff and Clipper Magazine.
Discount parking vouchers for the Prince Street Garage, located at the corner of North Prince and West Orange streets, are available at the Front Desk of the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA.
