BroadwayWorld.com has learned that the new musical BONNIE AND CLYDE will open on Broadway this December at the Schoenfeld Theatre (currently home to The Motherf**ker With the Hat). The production, which held an industry reading earlier this month has been receiving great buzz from insiders, including the hard to please Michael Riedel in the New York Post.
The creative team of BONNIE AND CLYDE includes music by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Don Black, book by Ivan Menchell and direction by Jeff Calhoun.
Casting for the show as well as a confirmed schedule have yet to be announced, but official word is expected shortly.
An industry-only presentation for the show this June Starred Laura Osnes (2011 Drama Desk nominee, Anything Goes) as Bonnie Parker and Jeremy Jordan (West Side Story) as Clyde Barrow. Laura Osnes originated the role of Bonnie Parker when it first began at the La Jolla Playhouse in the fall of 2009, where she earned a San Diego Theater Critics Circle Award for her performance and the show won Best Musical. She then reprised that role opposite Jeremy Jordan in the fall of 2010 when Bonnie & Clyde ran to critical acclaim at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida. Other featured roles include Claybourne Elder (Buck Barrow), Melissa van der Schyff (Blanche Barrow), Wayne Duvall (Sheriff Schmid), Chris Peluso (Ted Hinton), Kelsey Fowler (Young Bonnie) and Ted Sutherland (Young Clyde).
The ensemble included Leslie Becker, Mimi Bessette, Casey Shea, Natalie Hill, Alison Cimmet, Victor Hernandez, Michael Lanning, Dan Cooney, Michael Mulligan, Danny Stiles and Marty Thomas.
This production of BONNIE AND CLYDE is being presented by Kathleen Raitt, Barry Satchwell Smith, Jerry Frankel, Jeffrey Richards, Michael Jenkins and Bob Bartner.Videos
