Deya Danielle Drake's new dark comedy, ESCAPE, will premiere at The New York International Fringe Festival on October 20. The limited run is directed by Lynnsey Ooten.
In the aftermath of a violent incident onboard a commercial jet, an Airline CEO and Flight Attendant fight to control the narrative of a news cycle in free fall. When the incident crosses over from news ticker headline to twitter #trending, the two women discover how fraught with turbulence the internet can be. ESCAPE paints a timely picture of the temptation to pursue power, by any means necessary, and the human need to solidify our own relevance in a world that is changing quicker than we are.
The cast includes Rhonda Ayers (i origins - Sundance 2014, Law and Order SVU, Boardwalk Empire), Deya Danielle Drake (The Good Fight, Royal Pains). Additional casting to be announced early September.
The creative team includes Projection Design by Lisa Renkel, Lighting Design by Jennifer Fok, Sound Design by Jessica Hart, Casting by Kimberly Graham (2012 Emmy and Artios Awards for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series Homeland), and Stage Management by Dara Swisher. Malloree Hill serves as Assistant Director. Produced by Bryn Carter and Deya Danielle Drake.
In keeping with the festival spirit, this year, all audience members will meet at The FringeHUB, 685 Washington Street (Between Charles & Perry) and will be walked to the theatre by a Fringe Ambassador. All theatres are within 3 blocks of the FringeHUB. Tickets are $22 and available at https://bit.ly/2Ne6FHI. Running time: 1:35.
