USA Today reports that late actors James Gandolfini and Cory Monteith will receive special honors at Sunday night's 65th Primetime EMMY AWARDS. Jean Stapleton, Jonathan Winters and producer Gary David Goldberg also will be honored. The special segment will be in addition to the traditional In Memoriam portion of the show which honors figures in the television entertainment industry who have passed away during the year.
Edie Falco will pay tribute Gandolfini, her co-star on The Sopranos; Michael J. FOX will honor his Family Ties producer, Goldberg; Jane Lynch will remember her Glee castmate, Monteith; Rob Reiner will pay homage to Stapleton, who played his fictional mother-in-law Edith Bunker on All in the Family; and Robin Williams will commemorate his mentor, comedian Jonathan Winters, who co-starred with him on Mork and Mindy. "If you think about each of these people, they had a significant impact on television in general and on a particular generation," executive producer Ken Ehrlich says. "And we've asked people whose lives they affected to come and talk about them."Sunday's 65th Emmy Awards ceremony will air live on CBS, at 8 p.m .ET/5 p.m. PT) Neil Patrick Harris will host.
