Today Insomniac, the premier producer of electronic dance music festivals, and Pacha New York announced the full artist line-up for the highly anticipated New York debut of Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) that will take place at MetLife Stadium May 18-20, 2012.
This is the first large-scale Insomniac festival in the tri-state area, and is partnered with Pacha New York to add their distinctive New York vibe to the touring EDC event. The 15th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival main event drew over 230,000 attendees to Las Vegas in 2011.The debut New York edition sold out its first allotment of tickets in just hours, prompting the producers to add an extra day and more tickets.
"It was a testament to the strength of our brands, and electronic music in general," says Eddie Dean, co-owner of Pacha New York who partnered with Insomniac to produce the event. "New Yorkers are a tough crowd to please, but they could hardly contain their excitement for a chance to experience EDC at home."
"We felt a buzz coming from East Coast fans and decided that New York, with the right venue, would be the perfect stop for EDC," said Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac Events. "We're excited to bring Insomniac's unique multisensory festival experience to the New York area, a kind of production I have yet to see delivered in this market."
EDC is a fully immersive festival experience that features hundreds of theatrical performers, interactive art installations, pyrotechnics, special effects and state of the art production including a fireworks show that's not to be missed.
