Duo Multicultural Arts Center (DMAC) is pleased to present PRIDE @ DMAC, running June 16-22, 2013. As an official partner for NYC Pride, DMAC will showcase a diverse range of works, including paintings by contemporary artist SethRuggles Hiler, performative exhibitions by Michelangelo Alasa', and dance by the burgeoning MADboots dance co. The week will conclude with a film festival, "Gay Shorts," highlighting a rich array of queer stories. In an effort to increase the accessibility of PRIDE @ DMAC, admission to events ranges from $10-FREE. Representing a longtime champion of arts in the local community, DMAC is proud to celebrate Pride and queer culture in the East Village.

Studio Visits: Opening Reception
Studio Visits features over 30 paintings by Seth Ruggles Hiler. All works employ a classical aesthetic sensibility, underscored with a contemporary use of color and composition. Hiler strives to go beyond creating likeness or surface description by expressing a momentary relationship to the subject. His works are informed by a collection of past experiences that foster intimate exchange.

MADboots dance co. presents ALL GOOD SONS/blue
Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz of MADboots dance co. will present blue, a work loosely inspired by Picasso's "Blue Period" and text by Christopher Moore. blue is a highly physical dream space, both somber and austere, wild and sentimental. The program will also include ALL GOOD SONS, a dark and brooding romantic rebellion.

CONFESSIONS OF A CUBAN SEX ADDICT
Michelangelo Alasa's performative art installation features a collage of personal photographs, domestic objects, mixed media, and illusionary projections. CONFESSIONS offers a glance into the true story of Alasa's physical and sexual abuse and queer coming-of-age experience as a first-generation immigrant from Cuba. As an experiential work, CONFESSIONS presents therapeutic and cathartic subject matter as a point of commiseration for victims of abuse. All attendees of this ever-evolving exhibition will be invited to write their own "confessions" on a gallery wall.

Gay Shorts
"Gay Shorts" features five short films addressing the intricacies, complexities, and curiosities of queer lives. A treat for those who believe in living life to the fullest, "Gay Shorts" will be screened in the historic Duo Theater. The program features works directed by Hannah Leshaw, Michael Pantoja, Glenn Kiser, Milton Justice, and Jeff Sumner Nathan.
