Midsummer Night Swing - the 19th annual outdoor summer dance series on the Lincoln Center Plaza in Manhattan - will present "Kids Day! with Pierre Dulaine," the internationally renowned ballroom dancer and instructor and inspiration for the dance films Mad Hot Ballroom and Take the Lead -- on Saturday, June 30 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Josie Robertson Plaza (63rd and Columbus) at Lincoln Center.
For the wildly popular Kids Day!, Dulaine - the founder and director of American Ballroom Theatre and the acclaimed arts-in-education "Dancing Classrooms" program featured in the hit movie Mad Hot Ballroom - will give a ballroom dance less designed just for kids, incorporating the basics of ballroom, tango and swing. Students from Mr. Dulaine's American Ballroom Theatre Dance Project will be on hand to demonstrate and share their knowledge with first-time dancers.
Admission to Kids Day! is $5. Children under the age of 5 are admitted free. For program and ticket information to Midsummer Night Swing, call CenterCharge at 212 721 6500 or log on to www.lincolncenter.org.
