Ghostlight Records, a division of Sh-K-Boom Records, will release the original Broadway cast recording of The Drowsy Chaperone a few days early.

The cast album will now be released on Friday, June 9th, rather than the previously-announced date of Tuesday, June 13th. "
Due to overwhelming consumer demand for the album in anticipation of the Tony Awards, Ghostlight Records is rush-releasing The Drowsy Chaperone original cast recording. The album will be available in select stores as early as this weekend. The label and its distribution company are working closely with retail partners to deliver product as soon as possible to stores nationwide," according to a Ghostlight announcement.

The cast album was recorded on Sunday, April 16. The CD is produced by Grammy Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee Joel Moss, as well as Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records President Kurt Deutsch. The Drowsy Chaperone cast recording will feature two bonus tracks ("Message from a Nightingale" and the cut song "I Remember Love"), as well as
a color 32-page booklet, including lyrics, production photos, and clippings from Man In Chair's personal theatre memorabilia scrapbook.

The Drowsy Chaperone, which began previews on April 3rd, opened on May 1st at the Marquis Theatre. The Drowsy Chaperone is a completely original new musical comedy directed and choreographed by Tony Award-nominee Casey Nicholaw (Spamalot), with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. It is currently nominated for 13 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The musical stars Sutton Foster (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women) and also features Danny Burstein (Titanic), Georgia Engel ("Everybody Loves Raymond"), Edward Hibbert (Noises Off), Troy Britton Johnson (Damn Yankees), Eddie Korbich (Wicked), Garth Kravits (Toxic Audio), Jason Kravits (Sly Fox), Beth Leavel (42nd Street), Kecia Lewis-Evans (Once on This Island), Second City's Bob Martin, Jennifer Smith (The Producers), Lenny Wolpe (The Sound of Music), Linda Griffin (42nd Street tour), Angela Pupello (Grease), Joey Sorge (Follies), Patrick Wetzel (The Producers).

"To chase his blues away, a modern day musical theatre addict known simply as 'Man in Chair' drops the needle on his favorite LP – the 1928 musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi, the uproariously funny musical magically bursts to life on stage. Man in Chair's infectious love of The Drowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the theater," according to press notes. The Drowsy Chaperone is produced by Kevin McCollum, Roy Miller, Boyett Ostar, Barbara Freitag, Jill Furman and Stephanie McClelland.

Sh-K-Boom Records was founded by Kurt Deutsch in 2000 with the mission of bridging the gap between pop music and theatre. The label is committed to giving a voice to the new generation of Broadway composers and stars. Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight was recently honored with three 2006 Grammy Award nominations for Best Musical Show Album: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Hair (The Actors' Fund Of America Benefit Recording) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

A limited editional LP edition of the cast recording has also been announced, although no release date has been set.
