Two
Dreamgirls stars were awarded Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.
Jennifer Hudson, who plays Effie in
Bill Condon's adaptation of the classic 1981 musical, received Best Supporting Actress, while Eddie Murphy, who plays James "Thunder" Early, was honored with Best Supporting Actor.
Dreamgirls also received Best Soundtrack, while its "Listen," performed by
Beyonce Knowles, was chosen for Best Song.
Theatre veteran Helen Mirren continues to garner awards - she received the BCFA for Best Actress for her performance in
The Queen (Forest Whitaker, of
The Last King of Scotland, was chosen for Best Actor).
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - created by and starring future
Sweeney Todd film actor Sacha Baron Cohen - received Best Comedy Movie.
Martin Scorcese's
The Departed was awarded Best Picture. Scorcese was also named Best Director.
The Broadcast Film Critics Association comprises 200 television, radio and online critics. The awards ceremony will be broadcast on E! Entertainment Television on January 20th (check local listings).
