Dreamgirls, the acclaimed film adaptation of the Broadway musical, has received eight NAACP Image Awards.
The NAACP Image Awards honors projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts in television, recording, literature and motion pictures. The theme of this year's show is "Youth CreateChange. The 38th NAACP Image Awards will air live on Friday, March 2nd (8:00 – 10:00 p.m.ET/PT) on FOX.
Dreamgirls' soundtrack was nominated for Outstanding Album, while Jamie Foxx/> was nominated as Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture, Beyonce Knowles/> for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture, Danny Glover/> for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, both Jennifer Hudson/> and Anika Noni Rose/> for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, and Dreamgirls for Outstanding Motion Picture.
Dreamgirls, produced by Dreamworks, is directed and adapted by Bill Condon/>. The film is based upon Henry Krieger and Tom Eyen's 1981 classic, originally staged by Michael Bennett/>.
