Theatergoers will have a last chance to see Dreamgirls, the celebrated award-winning musical, in a limited run at the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts before the highly publicized release of the film version in December.

Directed by Tony-Award winner Ben Harney, co-star of the original Broadway production, Dreamgirls is based on the hit musical about the rise of a trio of black female soul singers in the early 1960s.

"This production features a gifted cast who performed to wildly enthusiastic, standing-room-only audiences at the historic Lambs Theater on Broadway in August. Markita Prescott, daughter of international soca singer Designer and photojournalist Margot Jordan is one of the many talented cast members. A May 2006 graduate of Nyack College, Miss Prescott has worked before the cameras on The Cosby Show and many national television commercials in addition to off Broadway.  Presently she handles production duties behind the scenes at BET J," state press notes.

The original Broadway production won six Tony Awards in 1982, including
for best actor in a musical for Harney, who played Curtis Taylor, Jr.  His other Broadway credits include Treemonisha, The Wiz, The Pajama Game and Pippin.

Presented by BAMSS Theatre Works, performances will take place Friday-Saturday, November 17, 18, 24 and 25, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, November 18 and 25, at 2 p.m.; and Sunday, November 26, at 5 p.m., in the Kumble Theater, located at the University's Brooklyn Campus, on the corner of DeKalb and Flatbush Avenues in downtown Brooklyn.
