The Dramatists Guild Fund awards $170,000 to theaters across the country. As a part of its mission to support writers, the Dramatists Guild Fund provides grants to non-profit theaters and theatrical institutions across the country that develop and/or produce contemporary American plays and musicals.
"Our grants to non-profit theaters across the country are an important part of our mission to nurture writers at all stages of their careers. Every year, we are inspired by organizations that keep dramatists at the heart of their work and build their communities through theater." - DGF Board President Gretchen Cryer
The awarded funds help theaters to provide dramatists with the crucial opportunity to hear their work, experience production and build careers.
"Reading the inspired mission statements from theaters across the country leaves us on the Dramatists Guild Fund whooping with excitement and joy."
- Tina Howe, DGF Advisory Council and Theater Grant Review Committee
Throughout the year DGF also provides aid to writers in need with Kesselring Emergency Grants and helps early and mid career dramatists develop their craft through educational programs.
