Drama League Sets Date, Books Venue for 2016 Awards Ceremony

The Drama League announced this morning that the 82nd Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway). More information about the Awards Ceremony, which includes pre-event cocktails and the afternoon luncheon ceremony, can be found by calling (212) 244-9494 or by visiting www.dramaleague.org.

The Awards Eligibility Period for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions will end on Sunday, April 17, 2016, followed by the Nominations Announcement on Tuesday morning, April 19, 2015 for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award.

First awarded in 1922, The Drama League Awards are the oldest theatrical honors in America. They are the only major theatergoer awards chosen by both industry professionals and audience members together.

Mark Your Calendar! Embarking on a landmark year of celebration commemorating its 100 years of service to the American theater, The Drama League previously announced the date for The Drama League Centennial Gala that will be held on Monday evening, November 2, 2015 at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue). Cocktails and silent auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by dinner and performance at 8:00 p.m. Special Guests and performers will be announced at a later date. This once-in-a-century celebration, which will pay tribute to the living legends of Broadway and honor major theatrical milestones, will include a fully-staged, one-night-only musical with dozens of acclaimed performers from Broadway, the West End, and Hollywood. The evening will support The Drama League's educational initiatives for promising young artists, including the award-winning Directors Project.

The Centennial Gala Co-Chairs are Anna May Feige and Stan Ponte. Centennial Sponsors include The Plaza and Delta Air Lines, the Official Airline of The Drama League. Additional sponsors will be announced at a later time.
