Matt Doyle, Adam Kantor, and Kristy Cates will join up-and-coming songwriters Kyle Ewalt and Michael Walker for an evening of their songs at 92YTribeca. Authors of Bromance: The Dudesical, Ewalt and Walker will make their first appearance since their sold out show at Playwrights Horizons.
Joining Doyle, Kantor, and Cates are Eric Petersen (Shrek, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Romelda Benjamin (Brooklyn The Musical), Lindsay Mendez (Grease, The Marvelous Wonderettes), Lisa Morabito (Mamma Mia), Kevin Greene (TV's Grease: You're the One that I Want), and cabaret sensations Molly Pope and Jonathan Whitton.
The concert will features songs from several of Ewalt and Walker's musicals, including songs from Broke and The Making of Madeline Moore, as well as the world premiere of material from their upcoming musical comedy, Bromance: The Dudesical.
Michael's work as a playwright has been seen both in New York and regionally. He was called one of American Theater Web's "Playwrights whose work bares watching" and hailed by The New Yorker for his play, BLACKOUT, produced Off Broadway in 2007. Other plays include INTERREGNUM, THE UNRELIABLE NARRATOR, and the upcoming LETTER FROM ALGERIA, which, as you can tell from their titles, would never have made it as musicals. Michael is a graduate of Yale University and earned his Master's degree from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and King's College, London.
Kyle is an accomplished composer who has penned original pieces for Ultra Records, BIG Management, the jazz vocal group Syncopation, and the dance/electronica group Kyven, for whom he created a top 40 hit in Poland. He proudly admits he is sort of like Poland's David Hasselhoff. His music will also be heard in the 2009 film, WHEN QUEENS COLLIDE. Kyle is a graduate of Berklee College of Music.
Tickets for the show are available for $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at 92y.org or by calling the box office at 212-601-1000.
