Doubt celebrated 300 performances on Broadway December 17

DOUBT celebrated its 300th performance on Broadway this past weekend, with the evening performance on Saturday, December 17. DOUBT began performances on March 9, 2005 and opened on March 31, 2005 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street).

DOUBT received the 2005 Tony Award® for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. DOUBT also received Tony Awards® for Best Direction of a Play (Doug Hughes), Best Actress in a Play (Cherry Jones), and Best Featured Actress in a Play (Adriane Lenox). DOUBT is also the winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Play, and the Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Play.

Written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Doug Hughes, DOUBT stars Cherry Jones as Sister Aloysius and Brían F. O'Byrne as Father Flynn, with Heather Goldenhersh as Sister James and Adriane Lenox as Mrs. Muller.

Original cast members Cherry Jones, Brían F. O'Byrne and Heather Goldenhersh will play their final performance on Sunday, January 8. On Tuesday, January 10, Eileen Atkins (Sister Aloysius), Ron Eldard (Father Flynn) and Jena Malone (Sister James) will begin performances opposite original cast member and 2005 Tony Award® winner Adriane Lenox (Mrs. Muller).

Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, DOUBT is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?
