DOUBT stars Cherry Jones and Brían F. O'Byrne will be interviewed by Dana Tyler on WCBS-TV Channel 2's "News at 5" on Tuesday, May 17th between 5:00-5:30 PM. Jones and O'Byrne have both been nominated for 2005 Tony Awards for their performances in John Patrick Shanley's critically acclaimed play.
DOUBT is the winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play of the Year, the Drama League Award for Distinguished Play, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Play and four Lucille Lortel Awards, including Best Play. The production is nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Play.
DOUBT, written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Doug Hughes, is playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street).
Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, DOUBT is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?
The production stars Cherry Jones as Sister Aloysius and Brían F. O'Byrne as Father Flynn, with Heather Goldenhersh as Sister James and Adriane Lenox as Mrs. Muller.
DOUBT is produced by Carole Shorenstein Hays, MTC Productions Inc. (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer), Roger Berlind and Scott Rudin. DOUBT is author John Patrick Shanley's first play to be produced on Broadway.
Set design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design is by Catherine Zuber, lighting design is by Pat Collins, original music and sound design is by David Van Tieghem.
Performance schedule is Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 PM, and Sunday at 3:00 PM.
