DOUBT, the Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize winning play, will celebrate its first year anniversary on Broadway with the performance on Friday, March 31.
DOUBT began performances on March 9, 2005 and opened on March 31, 2005 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street). The production originally opened Off-Broadway on November 23, 2004, at the Manhattan Theatre Club at NY City Center.
Written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Doug Hughes, DOUBT received the 2005 Tony Award® for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. DOUBT also received Tony Awards® for Best Direction of a Play (Doug Hughes) and Best Featured Actress in a Play (Adriane Lenox). DOUBT is also the winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Play, and the Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Play.
DOUBT stars Eileen Atkins (Sister Aloysius) and Ron Eldard (Father Flynn), with Jena Malone (Sister James) and Adriane Lenox (Mrs. Muller).
Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, DOUBT is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?
