The Calamity Carolers of Doom will present the revue (Don't Go) Home for the Holidays at the June Havoc Theatre, Abingdon Theatre Complex (312 West 36th Street, New York City) from December 21-December 31.
The show is "an irreverent, satirical musical review with riotous parodies of your favorite holiday songs, high-energy dancing and lots of outrageous humor. Follow the Carolers, long-time favorites in their native Pacific Northwest , as they travel door-to door and by accident end up serenading a Jewish household with Christmas tunes! But no matter; thanks to several Jewish-themed numbers and a painstakingly inclusive Christmas Pageant, a mirthful time is had by all...even atheists!," according to press notes.
"Enjoy such 'Calamity Classics' as: 'Oy Vey! Maria, I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus (in Texas),' 'Angels We Have Seen While High,' and 'Deck!,' a funky disco anthem. Plus, there are special visits from the spooky 'Sexes' of Christmas past, present, and future! (Don't Go) Home for the Holidays is performed with lots of heart and a fun-loving spirit (not to mention four-part harmony).
The revue features music and musical direction by Greg Bowers, A/V design and production by Scott Hossner and is produced by Jennifer Stark. Bowers, Hossner and Stark, along with Schoaps, star in the show.
Performances are: Tues.-Sat. at 8pm.; Sunday Matinees at 2pm or 3pm. There is an added Christmas Eve performance on 12/24 at 7pm. There will be a Champagne Toast on 12/31 after the 3pm performance. Tickets, which are $30, can be purchased at www.calalmitycarolers.com, www.smarttix.com or by calling 212.868.4444.
