In addition to being an artist, I'm a passionate advocate for gender equality. Years ago, I learned that more women die from heart disease each year than men due to stunning gender inequality in the research and treatment of women with heart disease. Because of this, I co-founded a non-profit organization, the Women's Heart Alliance, in partnership with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Our work focuses on improving diagnosis and treatment of women with heart disease and advocating for policy changes to increase research and funding for women's heart disease.
