Don Stephenson joins the cast of the five-time Tony nominated hit musical, ROCK OF AGES tonight, Monday, August 17, 2009 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street). Stephenson is stepping in for Paul Schoeffler as "Hertz," the German real estate developer with plans to makeover (and take-over) L.A.'s beloved Sunset Strip. Schoeffler is on leave to play Lawrence in the Walnut Street Theatre's production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels running September 8 - October 25, 2009. He returns to ROCK OF AGES Monday, October 26, 2009.
Don Stephenson starred as Leo Bloom in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of The Producers. His other Broadway credits include Dracula, By Jeeves, Titanic, Private Lives, Parade, Wonderful Town and Pardon My English. TV: "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "3 lbs.," "Law & Order," and "Possible Side Effects."
In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big-city dreamer - and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80's. It's ROCK OF AGES, a hilarious, feel-good love story told through the hit songs of iconic rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. Don't miss this awesomely good time where big hair meets big dreams and the result totally wails. The show is written by Chris D'Arienzo (writer and director of the upcoming film Barry Munday), directed by Kristin Hanggi (Bare, Pussycat Dolls on the Sunset Strip) and choreographed by Kelly Devine (Jersey Boys - Associate Choreographer).
ROCK OF AGES was nominated for Five 2009 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Constantine Maroulis), Best Direction of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Musical, and Best Sound Design of a Musical. Additionally, Wesley Taylor won a 2009 Theatre World Award for his portrayal of "Franz."
Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com/ 212-307-4100 or in person at The Brooks Atkinson Box Office (256 West 47th Street).
The performance schedule is Monday at 8pm, Tuesday at 7pm, Thursday at 8pm, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm and Sunday at 2pm & 7pm.
